COMPANY HISTORY

7 - Beta Squared Inc. was founded to provide lithography support and service to the semiconductor industry.

1999 - Management buyout (creating Beta Squared Lithography, Inc.) allowed the company to expand into Leading Edge Equipment Modifications, System Integration, and New Software Development specifically for the Micralign™ Projection Mask Aligner.

2003 - Beta Squared Lithography, Inc. moved to a new “State of the Art” 15,000 sq. ft. facility, including 1,200 sq. ft. Class 10,000 Clean Room. Our Company implements “Lean Manufacturing” & ISO 9001 procedures.

2006 - Beta Squared Lithography, Inc. announced it has signed an agreement for delivery of their third fully automated Micralign™ Global Alignment System as a field upgrade. Also introduced are new 300 and 800 SMC style manifolds.

2008 - Backside Alignment became a reality for Micralign™ users when Beta Squared Lithography, Inc. announced the sale of 3 upgrade kits.

2012 - ASML transfers its Micralign product line to BSL. With this transfer, BSL becomes the Authorized Service Provider for Micralign and gains exclusive rights to sell the complete range of High Pressure Mercury Arc lamps. BSL also attained the ASML Japan Sales/Service office as part of the transaction.

We develop custom-designed solutions to expand and improve the capabilities of our products to the customer. We provide a full-service repair center for all of the repairable parts of the Micralign™ including electronic board repair, optics stripping/re-coating/alignment and mechanical repair/alignment.

BSL has a huge selection of Micralign™ Projection Mask Aligners that are completely refurbished to “Factory Specifications”.  Our global parts inventory is unsurpassed in quality and reliability and is ready to ship anywhere.  BSL offers training for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels along with technical support. Our Field Service and Support Staff is available worldwide.  


MANAGEMENT TEAM


Curtis B. Timmerman, President/CEO

Curt Timmerman joined Beta Squared Lithography, Inc. (BSL) on November 1, 1999 as Vice President/CFO and then became President/CEO on September 1, 2007.

Prior to joining BSL, he worked as a software consultant with BSL since January 1997. Between 1996 and 1997, Mr. Timmerman served as Senior Project Manager for Aonix where he was in charge of new database applications employing object-oriented technology. Before 1996, he gained extensive experience in the semiconductor industry and the Micralign product line at Perkin-Elmer/SVGL working as the lead software and system engineer for that product. Mr. Timmerman is currently a member of IEEE.

Mr. Timmerman has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering (1984), Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.

Horst G. Burandt, Vice President
Horst Burandt joined Beta Squared Lithography, Inc. (BSL) on June 26, 2000 as Director of Manufacturing and was promoted to Vice President in April 2010. Mr. Burandt is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, including all of the engineering design and manufacturing functions.

Prior to Joining BSL, Mr. Burandt accrued 22 years of Design and Manufacturing experience, 15 of those years in the Medical Equipment business, most notably at Lorad/Hologic. There, he worked in Research & Development working with sales, marketing, regulatory, customers & manufacturing in determining product features & accessories. He also played a major role in the equipment design, and the transfer of the product to manufacturing, under ISO9001 & FDA guidelines. His responsibilities also included leading a quality control team for customer satisfaction. With 22+ years experience in engineering & manufacturing, Mr. Burandt is responsible for ensuring that engineering & production focuses on providing high quality products and services.

During his tenure with BSL, Mr. Burandt has lead the mechanical engineering re-design of the Micralign™ conversion to 6” capability, while maintaining cost effectiveness and improving product reliability with cutting edge solutions. He additionally has implemented the Lean Manufacturing techniques, streamlining and improving the effectiveness of assembly process and installed a Document Control System under ISO9001 guidelines.
